Very much in my backyard: What European Non-Profits Can Learn from the current U.S. Turmoil
Description:
Over the past few months, the political landscape in the United States has finally shifted dramatically, leading to increasing defunding, polarization, and instability—especially for the nonprofit sector. While Europe may feel somewhat removed from that intensity, the ripple effects are reaching us, and the question arises: *What can we learn before we find ourselves in similar waters?*
We want to invite you for an open and honest conversation exploring what European associations and nonprofit organizations can take away from the U.S. experience.
Our EWMD Treasurer Saskia Listle will be talking to Shannon McCracken, CAE.
Shannon is the founding CEO of the US-based The Nonprofit Alliance (TNPA), an association launched in 2018 with unprecedented support to promote, protect, and strengthen the nonprofit sector in the United States. She serves on the Fundraising.AI Advisory Council and was recently named to the Fundraising Effectiveness Project Steering Committee as Government Relations Chair. Shannon served as Charity Navigator’s Chief Development Officer, on Charity Navigator’s board of directors, and at Special Olympics, most recently as Vice President of Donor Development and as the DMA Nonprofit Federation Advisory Council Chair and Chair of the Ethics Committee.
We’ll navigate questions like:
- Where are we right now, and how did we get here?
- What could we have done differently—and what are we learning from the fact that we didn’t?
- What can we do better moving forward?
- What are the unique strengths of European associations, and how can we lean into them in times of uncertainty?
The conversation will evolve organically, and we’ll open the floor to your insights, questions, and reflections. Whether you’re coming to learn, vent, connect, or strategize—we hope you’ll join us.
